Mercury Rooftop
Four Seasons Jumeirah, Dubai
Presenting the latest project — Mercury Rooftop Four Seasons Jumeirah, The Sundukovy Sisters (S+S) studio continues its successful partnership with Four Seasons, which started with the restoration of Luna Sky Bar and Penrose Lounge.
This interior concept beautifully marries the celestial splendor of the planet Mercury with sweeping panoramic views of the city, creating a unique atmosphere at one of Dubai’s most iconic locations. S+S aimed to design an interior that not only embodies the spirit and style of Mercury Rooftop but also remains timeless and appealing for years to come.
Featuring two bar areas in varying metallic tones, highlighting natural materials and artistic elements, a mono-design principle is the heart of the project. As the planet Mercury emerges as a key symbol, the visual aesthetic is elevated by stunning views of Dubai and the starry sky. At the same time, the guests themselves hold center stage in this iconic space.
Storytelling
The design is inspired by Mercury, the planet known for its speed and mesmerizing glow, and the element mercury, which captures a sense of energy and velocity. The centerpiece is a bar in a liquid silver finish, evoking the look of flowing metal and symbolizing nature’s fluidity. Enhanced by the play of light and a warm color palette, soft shapes, and shiny metallic details create a feeling of constant movement.
While the interior bursts with dynamism, the facades remain solid and unchanging. This contrast accentuates the difference between the stable exterior and the lively interior, inviting a deeper appreciation of the space’s story.
Bar
Showcasing smooth lines and elegant design immediately draws the eye, and the bar becomes the staple here. Inspired by the beauty of liquid metal, it fits beautifully into its surroundings while shimmering and catching the light. The unique curves of the metallic structure, crafted using innovative casting techniques, add a modern touch.
Conveniently located, the bar allows guests to move freely, enhancing the lively atmosphere of the rooftop terrace. In a cozy corner, adding a luxurious feel and creating a memorable experience for visitors, the golden champagne bar offers stunning views of Dubai. This perfect blend of style and comfort makes the bar a captivating spot for all.
Color Palette and Lighting
The color palette balances warm and cool tones, establishing a distinctive atmosphere. Producing an otherworldly glow, the accent lighting highlights the greenery, harmoniously complementing the warm hues of the furniture upholstery. Metallic structures glisten under the inviting lighting, mirroring the night sky and contributing to a dramatic mood.
Materials and Art
The venue’s central terrace, with a focus on the bar, offers a variety of seating options that fit perfectly into the overall design. Inspired by the fluidity of mercury, the furniture’s smooth, flowing shapes create a sense of movement. The bar chairs feature custom upholstery with prints that resemble liquid metal, adding to the captivating look.
The flooring showcases Arabescato Orobico Grigio marble, with its beautiful veining that perfectly complements the theme of fluid forms and soft lines while hinting at cosmic motifs. The tabletops are crafted from luxurious materials like black granite with white veining from Copacabana, Supreme Blue quartzite, and BACCARAT milk onyx, all enhancing the artistic vision of the space.
Preserving the towers’ original architectural features, immersive art elements are introduced, including a mesmerizing spectacle of illuminated hanging paper installations that sway with the sea breeze.
Offering an artistic take on a timeless concept, one of the towers will also feature a 3D projection mapping experience on the walls and ceiling, simulating the movement of quicksilver and deepening the immersive atmosphere of this iconic Dubai destination.
