Sundukovy Sisters » PENROSE LOUNGE PENROSE LOUNGE – Sundukovy Sisters

The renovation of Penrose Lounge, located within the Four Seasons Hotel DIFC in Dubai, aims to enhance the existing space with an exquisite design that seamlessly blends the interior spirit of the hotel with the outdoor ambiance of the terrace. Sundukovy Sisters (S+S Studio) infused the terrace with a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere, creating an oasis in the heart of the bustling city center.

Design Concept:

The terrace is conceived as an extension of the hotel’s exquisite interior, offering guests a perfect spot for post-shopping tea or all-day dining in cozy surroundings. Embracing Penrose’s legacy of geometric innovation, the design integrates patterns inspired by aperiodic tiling into various elements, from furniture upholstery to landscaping decor.

Greenery and Oasis Theme:

Lush greenery adorns the perimeter, creating a sense of seclusion and tranquility amidst the urban hustle. Tropical plants and vibrant foliage are incorporated into the hedge’s geometric decor, enhancing its visual appeal and magical ambiance, particularly in the evening.

Pattern Integration:

Geometric patterns inspired by Penrose’s work are woven into the design language, appearing in furniture upholstery, table decorations, and landscaping elements. The terrace showcases the beauty of aperiodic tiling through carefully curated patterns that add depth and visual interest to the space.

Translucent Umbrellas:

Umbrellas featuring translucent parts not only provide shade but also cast geometric shadows on the floor and furniture beneath, adding a touch of charm and sophistication.Utilizing translucent fabric with non-translucent paint creates a unique interplay of light and shadow during the day.

Evening Transformation:

As night falls, the terrace undergoes a transformation, with art integrated into the greenery coming to life with vibrant colors.Spotlights illuminate the floor with patterns reminiscent of aperiodic tiling, maintaining the terrace’s enchanting atmosphere even after sunset.
