ToMi Negroni Bar

Brief

Located on Malaya Bronnaya, ToMi Negroni Bar is an artistic homage to Italian culture, tradition, and Art Nouveau. The challenge was to craft a bar where the space visually transforms, shifting its mood with the time of day, while delicate decorative detailing blends with the playful rebellion of Italian street art.

Concept

S+S Studio (Sundukovy Sisters) designed an interior that reimagines Milan’s “everyday chic” culture. Every element carries meaning – even the name “ToMi” (Torino-Milano) nods to the cultural legacy of these cities and the historic cycling race between them. It’s a fusion of Italian Liberty style and contemporary boldness. By day, the bar exudes the effortless vibe of aperitivo; by night, it transforms – rich hues, dynamic lighting, and mirrored reflections turn it into a vibrant Negroni bar, pulsing with the rhythm of Milan after dark.

Layout

The narrow, elongated space, with just one window, appears larger thanks to a mirror behind the bar, adding visual depth. At its heart stands the bar counter, lowered on the guest side to accommodate seating. Above it, a column rises seamlessly into the ceiling, its reflection creating a circular focal point. Along one wall, a sectional sofa stretches, each piece uniquely shaped and styled.

Challenges & Solutions

Art Nouveau flourishes are woven organically into the design, balancing the style’s ornate elegance with bold modern accents. Arts with transparent backgrounds reinterpret Italian masterpieces as posters, while graphic inserts in the sofa upholstery add rhythm without sacrificing fluidity.
The bar evolves with the day’s tempo: morning light highlights textures with a soft touch, while evening illumination layers depth, drama, and the fiery tones of Negroni. Even the artwork features special lighting to accentuate its “mischievous” details, amplifying the space’s nocturnal energy.

Interior

An exquisite Art Nouveau facade sets the tone, drawing guests into an interior where hand-textured plaster walls provide an organic canvas for contemporary art.
The centerpiece is a green marble bar counter – its polished surface catching light to emphasize the stone’s depth. The walls, adorned with modern Italian motifs, are clad in artisanal relief plaster, tactile and dynamic.
The flowing shapes of the sofa, positioned along one of the walls, are inspired by Art Nouveau aesthetics, while graphic elements in the decoration add a contemporary touch. Underfoot, a mosaic of black and white granite tiles injects rhythmic geometry.
A carved wooden wine cabinet, glass tabletops with intricate etchings, and live plants introduce fresh and rich textures.
The restrooms extend the theme of contrasts: one warm and wood-paneled, the other gleaming in gold – both united by Art Nouveau details that highlight their differences. Each is a distinct reflection of the design’s core vision.

ToMi Negroni Bar is style distilled through light, texture, and color – a place where tradition finds reinvention. Here, every detail composes a memorable tableau, crafting the perfect setting to enjoy cocktails and an atmosphere of Italian chic.
