LEO Restaurant Moscow
Concept
The new restaurant Leo by S+S (Sundukovy Sisters) strikes a balance between festive elegance and cozy informality. In the evening, it’s a place to dress up, while in the morning, it welcomes guests for a relaxed breakfast in a comfortable setting.
The interior blends classic elegance with modern minimalism. The harmony between approachability and sophistication is achieved through a combination of luxurious finishes and simple furniture forms. Attention to detail ensures that every visit becomes a unique gastronomic and aesthetic experience.
Layout Solutions
Through the facade’s glass windows, you can see a cozy lounge with a central lighting installation that catches the eye from the street and beckons you inside. Upon entering, guests feel as though they’ve stepped into a wine cellar, sparking curiosity and inviting them to immerse themselves in the restaurant’s warm atmosphere. An exquisite wine station, where wine service becomes an art form, allows guests to embrace the culture of enogastronomy. During brunch, fresh pastries, desserts, and champagne are served here.
In a space surrounded on three sides by panoramic windows and filled with light and air, a sculptural wall draws attention. Its flowing, folded forms create a soft, relaxing, and slightly theatrical ambiance. The space features a raw bar, cocktail bar, tea station, and the heart of the restaurant—the open kitchen—all arranged as if on a stage.
Functional zones are distributed throughout the hall. At the entrance, a lounge area with plush armchairs transitions into a bar, perfect for an aperitif. The center of the restaurant mixes cozy banquette seating, tables for two, which can be rearranged for larger groups, and formal round tables.
Materials and Color Palette
Each of these functional elements is clad in poplar root, evoking a sense of luxury. The warm, noble tones of the wood contrast with the futuristic raw bar, an organic-shaped, blue-hued art piece with a metallic finish that changes color depending on the viewing angle.
The designers’ approach to balance is evident in all material choices. Oak parquet adds warmth, American walnut veneer brings elegance, Bianco Onyx granite countertops highlight the interior’s refinement, and rattan chairs lighten the space with their simplicity.
The warm tones of natural materials harmonize with vibrant accents in the upholstery and decorative details.
Art and Decor
Small art objects, nestled between tables, invite guests to notice delightful details and contribute to the interior’s unique character. Each element tells its own story in different corners of the restaurant. Sculptures by Antonina Fatkhullina, such as “Girl on a Chair” and “Little Cloud”, add a touch of whimsy, while the bright kinetic works by artist Euphrosina bring dynamism to the space. Seasonal floral arrangements add freshness and color.
Lighting and Atmosphere
Lighting plays a key role in setting the mood. During the day, the space is filled with natural light, while multi-level accent lighting highlights key areas, adding intimacy.
Three cascading glass chandeliers lend a sense of grandeur, while a neon installation around a column creates a modern contrast. Spotlights emphasize details and bring a sense of privacy to the restaurant’s expansive layout.
